Obituary

Mary (nee Thiessen) Penner, age 86, of Arborg, MB., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Arborg & District Health Centre.

Mary is survived by her four daughters and two sons along with their spouses, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandson. She will be lovingly remembered by her seven sisters and their spouses, six brothers and their spouses, and three sisters-in-law.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Menno, three children at infancy, one sister and five brothers-in-law.

Mary was born on December 25, 1937, in Steinbach, MB. She was married October 5, 1958, to Menno Penner till he passed away in 2000. In their 42 years of marriage, they were blessed with six children and many years of service and ministry in Morweena, MB., and Southern Texas. Mom loved sewing, gardening and puzzling. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a proud great-grandmother.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. with a short devotional to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Morweena EMC, with the interment to follow at Morweena Church Cemetery. Reception to follow immediately after interment.

If friends so desire a donation in memory of Mary may be made to MCC – Riverton Thrift Store.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the wonderful caring Medical Staff at Percy E Moore Hospital, Hodgson, MB; in Winnipeg at St. Boniface Hospital and Misericordia Health Center and at the Arborg & District Health Centre.

The family also wishes to thank all the family and friends who visited at the hospital and provided us with many meals and snacks.
