With broken hearts we announce the passing of Barbie June (Auntie B) Lischynski on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, with family by her side at Altona Memorial Centre, Altona, Manitoba, at the age of 60.
Barbie will be lovingly missed by her husband Melvin of 41 years, mother Nellie Ostrowsky and sister Rachel (Joe) Blair, nephews Joshua (Jessica) and their children Jenessa and Jordyn. Brandon and his children Waylon and Ruston and her fur baby Tucker.
She also leaves to mourn, her sister-in-law Eleanor Lischynski, Phyllis (Bill) Mushaluk and their daughter-in-law Alissa Mushaluk and children Roman, Farrah and Adele. Bernice Smuk and son Ryan (Heather) and children Quinn and Avery.
Barbie was predeceased by her dad Peter Ostrowsky, sister Ida in infancy, in-laws Adam and Mary Lischynski, brother-in-law Ned Smuk and nephew Bryce Mushaluk.
Barbie was born June 27, 1964, in Winnipeg, MB. She lived her entire childhood in Senkiw, MB., and attended Shevchenko School in Vita, MB.
Barbie met Melvin in 1980 at a social and married in September 1982.
Barbie worked at St. Malo Sewing Factory, 7-Eleven in Steinbach, Can-Am Corner Restaurant for 12 years and her last job at Clearview Coop in St. Malo for five years.
Barbie and Melvin lived on the farm in Rosa for 40 years before settling in Dominion City, MB., in August 2022.
Barbie was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, reading, watching T.V. and spoiling her fur baby feeding licorice and ice cream.
Melvin and family wish to express their most gratitude to Dr. Best and the staff at Altona Memorial Centre and Dr. Smith at the Dakota Medical Centre.
Barbie – Auntie B you will be missed, and we all love you.
The Catholic Funeral Prayer Service followed by a Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. The ash interment will take place following the service at the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Rosa, MB.
