It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and co-worker Helen Brown age 63 years, on Monday, September 16, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Helen was predeceased by her mother; Doreen (2019) and father; Jim (1995).
Helen will be sadly missed by those who loved her: daughter; Dory, grandson; Bentley, sister; Linda (Mike), niece; Sydney, friend; Andrew and his children Caity and Cameron, as well as Dory’s father Eric and the Stewner family.
Helen attended Sisler High School; after graduation, she continued her education at Red River College in Business Administration. Once finishing her education, she started to work at Standard Tube and then went to work for The City of Winnipeg for over 30 years, including The Pantages Playhouse Theatre, 100 Main & Public Works. Helen enjoyed her family getaways to Grand Forks during spring break to go shopping and relax in the hot tubs and pools at the hotel. As Dory was growing up, Helen enjoyed traveling all over the city, province, and country to support her daughter in her athletic endeavors. Helen also enjoyed spending time with her grandson Bentley. She enjoyed watching him grow up and cheering him on with many accomplishments, catching his big fish, learning to swim, driving the big tractor, and hunting down his first deer.
Helen was the most genuine, kindest, and helpful person. Always willing to help anyone and go the extra mile for her co-workers. While in the hospital, she was contacting her co-workers to make sure they got supplies that they needed and ordered.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff from Health Sciences Centre, Green Owl floor #4 for their kindness and compassionate care shown towards Helen over the last month.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215, 215 Maxwell King Dr., East Saint Paul, Manitoba.
