Obituary

With heavy hearts we the family announce the passing of George Braun to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

George was born on December 12, 1957, to Peter and Maria (Friesen) Braun in Hague, Saskatchewan.

George attended school at the Venice Country School until grade 3, then continued his education in Hague, Saskatchewan, and finished his last years of education in Warman, Saskatchewan.

After school George worked at various jobs wearing many different hats, working for a body shop, salvage company, as a mechanical insulator, and working for Star Egg as a truck driver.

After the passing of his Father, and a close friend in 1987, George saw his need of a Savior, and received Jesus Christ as his Lord that same year. George was baptized upon his confession of his faith, in the Warman Bergthaler Mennonite Church, always being faithful in Bible studies, prayer meetings, and church attendance. He attended Hepburn Bethany Bible School for three years. During his time in Bible school he felt the call to missions in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

In P.A. he met the love of his life Anna Plett. They got married on September 3, 1994. They started their married life in Saskatoon, then were called to the mission field in Lac La Biche, Alberta where they stayed for nine years. They then moved to Manitoba to be closer to Annas’ parents and family.

After being on missions, George started working for Harmon Poultry Farm until he retired in January 2023. He enjoyed a brief retirement at home and enjoyed taking care of the yard and garden and taking numerous trips.

He leaves to mourn, the love of his life Anna, son Nathan, daughter Alanna, sister-in-law Lee Braun, his sister Marge (Frank), their children, Marlene (Russell), Kelly (Rosanne), and Daryl (Loretta), their children, Bronson (Joceylen), Janae, and Kaeden, brother Jake (Brenda), their daughter Jana, and Georges’ nephew Matthew. As well as Annas’ siblings, many nephews and nieces, and friends.

George was predeceased by his parents Peter & Maria Braun, brothers John and Peter, sister Ann, brother-in-law Barry, and four infant siblings.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
