Eva was born on October 20, 1938, to Peter and Agnes Toews in Tache. During her childhood they lived in the Silberfeld area. Being the oldest, Eva took on many responsibilities caring for her younger siblings, as her parents worked.
In 1948 the family moved to East Paraguay for a year, they moved back to the Landmark area and eventually to Steinbach. Eva got a waitressing job working at J & A restaurant where she noticed this handsome guy by the name of Pete Kehler who kept wanting to give her rides home. They were married October 6,1956 and settled in Steinbach. In 1963 they purchased the Kehler farm, where the family grew and many memories were made which included many sleepovers with grandchildren.
Eva loved serving her family, was an incredibly hard working lady, and very hospitable. She had numerous jobs, cooking, waitressing, sewing & volunteering.
One of the things that both challenged and grew her faith in Jesus Christ was when she battled both lung and colon cancer within six months of each other. Also, when she lovingly and patiently took care of Pete during his lengthy illness.
After many years of being on her own, a man came knocking at her door. Neil Peters caught her attention and a year later they were married on April 6, 2013. Eva was happy being able to cook for him and have his love and companionship. Eva also welcomed the Peters family as her own. They had eight good years together.
After Neil’s passing Eva moved to Fernwood, where she made many new friends. The last year and half were spent at Rest Haven, where she again was loved and cared for by wonderful staff. The family would like to say a big thank you to those who took care of her.
