With heavy hearts but also with love & gratitude to God for her Life with US, we said a peaceful goodbye to our beautiful Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma.
We take immeasurable comfort in the knowledge that Mom is safe in the loving arms of Jesus.
She was predeceased by her husband, Pete (1983), and her daughter Teresa (2013), Parents; Abram & Maria Klassen, 3 brothers & 2 sisters.
She is survived by 4 daughters & 3 sons, and their families, which includes 21 grandchildren & 18 great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Rita & Martha.
Laura was the 4th child of 8 born to Abram & Maria Klassen. Her happy childhood was spent on her Parents’ yard, in Gnadenthal, MB. After school she attended finishing school, which led to working at various jobs
including a seniors home in Winnipeg.
She met Dad while spending the weekends in Rosenort with her sister Rita, who was teaching at Clover Plain School, east of Rosenort.
On Mar. 27th, 1955 Laura married Pete Siemens and they established their home southeast of Rosenort. Mom was an excellent homemaker, devoted wife and mother.
Mom was always hands on, working with Dad to establish the poultry & grain farm. Having always dreamt of a large family; they welcomed 5 daughters & 3 sons into the family.
She was a very busy Mom, but never too busy to help anyone in need. She always put others needs ahead of her own and was an encouragement to many.
Mom was involved in many volunteer positions; always ready to lend a hand. She baked and cooked for Living Fountain Bible Camp & Inner-City Youth for many years.
She sewed blankets & beautiful hand stitched quilts to give away or auction off at fundraisers.
Mom was very creative and her interests & hobbies reflected that. She loved travel, music, playing piano, gardening, baking & cooking, crafting, quilting, card games, puzzling, and was an avid reader all her life.
She had a selfless and generous heart and graciously shared the bounty of her baking & garden produce with family, friends and passersby.
The most important thing in Mom’s life was time spent with her Family. She was always SO proud of her large family and their accomplishments. A family gathering was such a highlight for her.
She instilled in us a strong work ethic, and that “many hands make light Work.” She taught us the importance treating all people with kindness no matter their circumstances. Mom has left us a Legacy of Love & Kindness. Mom was our prayer Warrior, spending lots of time praying for her Family daily.
Despite her challenges with dementia in the last 6 years, she was always grateful for her blessings. She was aware that God was calling her home, and reminded us not to worry about her, she would be fine. Although Mom’s passing has left a huge void in our lives, we are comforted that she is pain free and at peace in the presence of her Lord and Saviour.
Left to cherish her memory are: Lois (Leroy) Friesen, Colleen (Brad) Kornelsen, Karl (Barb) Siemens, Pat (Steve) Harder, Kurt (Tami) Siemens, Eric (Lorraine) Siemens. Anthony (Jen) Thiessen, Lisa (Luke) Murray and their Families.
The Family would like to extend our warmest thanks to all who have had a part in caring for our precious Mom. Thank-you to the Heritage 24/7 Staff and Home Care Staff, as well as the Morris Lodge Staff, Nurses and Aids. Our Family is so grateful for the compassionate care & kindness shown to our mother.
