With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul Dankwart on January 25, 2025.
He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a kind and quiet soul.
Paul is survived by his devoted son Paul (Susanne), and his cherished grandchildren Nadine, Sandra, and Rene (Mikayla). He was predeceased by his parents, siblings, his first wife Katharina, and his second wife Waltraud.
Paul was born on February 13, 1930, in Glottau Krs. Heilsberg, Ostpreußen on a small farm. He was the eldest of four siblings. As Russian forces captured the territories, Paul’s mother and one sister were taken and never returned.
Paul took off alone to Arsbeck in West Germany, where he met and married Katharina Stricker, the love of his life. Together, they built a small farm before relocating to St. Malo in 1989. Paul cherished his time with his grandchildren and always found ways to lend a helping hand.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures – basking in the summer sun on his porch or gathering firewood for his stove in the winter. Paul’s tireless work ethic remained a defining trait and tended to his livestock until the age of 90.
Paul’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
In keeping with Paul’s wishes, a private service has taken place.
