Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Forest at the age of 66 years. After fighting a lengthy battle with cancer, Robert passed surrounded by his family in his home in Saint-Malo, Manitoba, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The eldest of three, Robert grew up working on the family dairy farm, where he developed an incredible work ethic, and a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed working the fields, and found tremendous love in riding horses. This joy and freedom translated later in life into riding motorcycles.

Rob met the love of his life, Suzanne Clement, and married on August 18, 1979. They started their life and new family together in Winnipeg. After a few years of working at the Steel Mills in Selkirk, and having two children, Rob decided that he would take the reigns to his family farm, where he would continue to provide for his family and have two more children. This is how he wanted to raise his family while sharing the experience and passions he had gained from his life growing up.

Rob was a loving devoted husband and father. Rising with the sun, he worked tirelessly to care for his crops and livestock to provide for his family. He always took pride in his work, and was passionate in everything he would put his heart and efforts into. He would always share his knowledge with his children as they all grew up working together on the farm.

Whenever he wasn’t busy working, Rob would enjoy music; he was a great guitar player and was a big part of the choir at the church. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. In the summers he would often take his children to the beach and enjoy bonfires and barbeques on the farm with many other family members. In the winters he would spend time with his children skating and snowmobiling. Farm life always kept him very busy, but he always made time for family and friends. He was a very devoted and kind man of true integrity, always willing to help anyone that would cross paths with him in life. His relationships with people were very important to him, and he very much appreciated the simple things in life. He loved to laugh.

Later in life, Rob had decided to retire from farming and transitioned to trucking while still enjoying life in the country on the family’s farm. He continued to enjoy life playing guitar, riding his Harley, taking road trips with Suzanne and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Until the very end, he fought for his health in order to continue sharing and loving everything and everyone that were important to him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Suzanne (née Clement); Children: Daniel (Maiko), Angèle, Patrick, Catherine (Justin) and his two grandchildren Cédric and Kano.

Mother: Yolande (née Trudeau) Siblings: Guy (Gisèle), Laura (Theresa); along with brothers-in law, sisters-in law and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rob was predeceased by his father Raymond.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (prayers at 10:30 a.m.) at the Paroisse St-Malo/Blessed Margaret Pole Catholic Community, St-Malo, MB. Private interment will be held at a later date.

Nous t’aimerons pour toujours Papa.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cancer Care, Palliative Care and homecare, as well as the doctors and nurses, family and friends for their support throughout Rob’s courageous battle.
