He was predeceased by his parents Albert & Melanie, brothers Claude and Paul.
Gerald was born on February 23, 1943, on a farm in Union Point, Manitoba. He began at a very young age helping his father take care of the farm which evolved into his lifelong passion. He also worked as a high-pressure welder for 44 years.
Dad loved to eat and always enjoyed a good meal and desserts. He was a selfless, patient, caring and gentle man that would literally give the shirt off his back to help a friend. He raised us three kids Yvonne, Monique and Marcel on his own. He always worked very hard to provide us with a good life and although he worked full time and farmed, he always made time to spend with us.
Growing up, we remember many friends stopping by the house for a coffee, drink and snacks. Dad also enjoyed snowmobiling with friends. The door was always open for breakfast at the shack which he enjoyed greatly. Everyone was welcome and it was always a good time.
Once he retired in 2010 from welding, he spent the cold winter months down in Texas with friends and still kept up with maintaining the farm in the summer. Even with his health deteriorating in his later years we still found him tinkering around in the yard and cutting grass.
Dad / Pepère you will be missed dearly.
A private ceremony / interment to follow at a later date.
Special thanks to Dr. Ball, the staff at the Vita District Health Centre, Dr. Warden and the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the great care he received. A very special thank you to family and friends for all their support.
