Obituary

Ron was born on June 14, 1940, at the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. Deeply loved and cherished, aged 84, he passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley (nee Bencharski) and their children Ronald Jr (Christina), Barbara (Kevin), Bryan (Angie), Tracy (Al) and Jared (Gina), grandchildren Austin (Samantha), Haley (Aiden), Chloe, and Chelsea, in-laws Sheila and Robert Sutyla, Joan and Garry Proceviat, George Van nieuw Amerongen and Ron’s nieces and nephews.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Paul & May Rudiak, John & Marge Bencharski, and daughter Kimberley, sister-in-law Janet Van nieuw Amerongen (nee Bencharski).

Ron married Shirley on August 7, 1965. They resided in Steinbach with their children in the home they built together. Ron’s family was his pride and joy. The time spent with them meant everything to him.

Ron worked as a Central Officeman at Manitoba Telephone System, retiring at 38 years of service. He was known in the community for his strong work ethic and his enjoyment of fixing anything in need of repair.

Ron enjoyed his beekeeping hobby, keeping over 100 hives at the pinnacle, winning numerous awards and accolades for the excellent honey he and Shirley produced, as well as the research he did for the health and welfare of bees.

Ron was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2003. With this diagnosis, he became a strong advocate for the testing and understanding of the disease and for possible treatments that could help infected individuals.

Our husband/dad/grandfather was one of a kind. He was so very kind, generous, incredibly intelligent and so very patient and supportive but most of all loving. He was love.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this year.

Many thanks to everyone for their condolences: phone calls, cards, emails, messages, flowers, meals and visits. It means so very much to know so many are thinking of us and care about our loss.

Our sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital Emergency Department Doctors and Team. Their dedication and compassionate care to assist our beloved one is so appreciated and acknowledged.
